With your consent, we share relevant health and billing information with your extended-health insurance provider (such as Alberta Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, or Green Shield), your auto insurance provider (for MVA claims), or WCB Alberta to facilitate direct billing of approved services. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or a request from a regulatory authority such as the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta or the College of Chiropractors of Alberta. Where legally permitted, we will notify you before making such a disclosure.
Our safeguards include:
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While we take all reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a privacy breach that poses a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act and the Health Information Act.
We retain patient health records for a minimum of ten (10) years from the date of last treatment, in accordance with the standards of the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta, the College of Chiropractors of Alberta, and applicable law.
